Want to become more involved?

As an Italian Graffiti student you have the opportunity to be more involved with the Italian culture and your peers by attending our events. Throughout the year we organize talks, book presentations, pizza and movie nights, and our much loved annual Italian Christmas Party!

Some of these events will be free of charge, and some will require a fee.




  Commedia dell'Arte with Antonio Fava at Cesare's No Name Family Restaurant













ANTONIO FAVA It was by the side of his father, a famous Pulcinella that maestro Antonio Fava was to develop his passion for Commedia dell’Arte. This love would lead him to become a world-renowned authority on the subject and to create a multi-lingual school, like no-other, where international actors come to learn theatrical skills rooted in the Italian Renaissance.

Maestro Antonio Fava’s professional career began as an actor and musician at the National Theatre of Strasbourg. He later co-founded the Theatre de la Jacquerie in Paris, where he collaborated with the great French writer, Jean-Pierre Chabrol. Returning to Italy, he developed Teatro del  Vicolo in Reggio Emilia, where, since 1980, he has directed and performed in over thirty different productions, touring throughout the world including France, Spain, Switzerland, Senegal, Lebanon, Japan, Czechoslovakia, Pakistan, the United States, Canada, Australia and Great Britain.

In 1984 he founded the International School of the Comic Actor in Reggio Emilia, in Italy. And ever since he has taught Commedia dell’arte to the hundreds of students that every year come from all over the world to follow his courses.

He designs and makes leather masks for use in his school and performances. His masks are on show in important museums and cultural institutions.

Antonio Fava has taught and directed internationally including The Oxford Stage Company, England, Institut dei Teatre de Barcelona, Real Escuela de Arte Dramatico Madrid, CIP di Tremlan Switzerland, Exter University England, Theatre Populaire Jurassien de Lons le Saunier, France, Museo  Cassioli di Asciano Italy, Ecole Superieure de Theatre Universitè du Quebec Canada, New York University US, West Illinois University US, Colorado University US, Université de Genève Switzerland.

Maestro Fava has collaborated with International Opera theatre as a librettist for their production of La Tempesta presented in 2006. His seminal book, The Comic Masks in Commedia dell’Arte, was translated into English in 2005. He is currently writing the books: Life, Death and Resurrection of Pulcinella: the Commedia dell’Arte Through the Neapolitan Mask and What Commedia dell’Arte is Not.
